Learning outcomes
LO04. Use information technologies, cartographic
and geoinformation models in the fields of the subject area
of geographical sciences.
LO07. Apply models, methods and data of natural sciences and
social sciences, information technologies, etc. when studying
formation and development of geographical objects and processes
shells
LO09. Carry out research on the geographical envelope and its spheres
using quantitative and qualitative methods of analysis.
LO12. Know and apply theories, paradigms, concepts and
principles in the branches of the subject area of geography according to
specialization
LO14. Demonstrate the ability to conduct independent
research of natural and socio-geographic objects,
systems and processes in the geographical envelope under field and
laboratory conditions.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of the disciplines "Higher mathematics with the basics of mathematics
statistics", "Geographic information systems", "Geographic information
technologies", "Remote sensing of the Earth".
2. Know the basic principles of geoinformatics and the properties of vector and
raster geodata.
3. To be able to work with geographic information systems for implementation
elementary analysis and compilation of thematic maps;
4. Have basic skills in finding information sources,
conducting basic statistical calculations, analysis of cartographic sources
and geodata, generalization and synthesis of information.
Course content
The discipline is aimed at studying and
mastering the approaches and methods of geospatial analysis in context
landscape studies and mapping. Students are in the process of studying
get acquainted with the starting points of geospatial analysis; the main ones
sources of open geodata and their properties; master techniques and
methods of geospatial analysis of their preparation and thematic interpretation for
needs of modern landscape studies.

Assessment methods and criteria
Test, performance of creative analytical and calculation works, discourse, exam. The recommended minimum for admission is 36
points For students who scored a total of less than 36 points (recommended
minimum) number, a mandatory condition for admission to the exam is
writing essays on missed or insufficiently mastered topics.
Final assessment in the form of an exam is conducted in writing
format The maximum number of points on the exam is 40, the minimum number of points,
which are added to the semester ones – 24 (60% of the maximum number of points allocated
for the exam).
