Learning outcomes
PLO 11. To know the principles, technologies and methods of creating spoken and written texts of various genres and styles in national, classical and foreign languages. PLO 12. To analyze units of language, to determine their interaction, to characterize language phenomena and processes that cause them. PLO 13. To analyze and interpret ancient literature works, to determine their specificity and the position in the literary process. PLO 15. To carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of ancient Greek and Latin languages texts of various styles and genres. PLO 21. To have the skills of translating ancient Greek and Latin texts of various styles and genres. Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastery of educational discipline “Latin language. Morphology and word structure”, “Latin language. Syntax of a simple sentence” and “Latin language. Syntax of a complex sentence”, “Introduction to general linguistics”, “History of Roman literature”, “Culture of Ancient Greece and Rome (in ancient Greek and Roman texts)”, “Ancient Roman historical prose (based on original texts)”.
Course content
The discipline is called for introducing students to the history of the formation of Roman rhetoric in different aspects: historical, social and political and literature; to shape an understanding about morphological and syntactic peculiarities of the Latin language of classical period; rhetorical tools inherent to political speeches; to outline the influence of Greek and Roman rhetoric on the development of European culture.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical studies, video materials and presentations (Microsoft PowerPoint); individual work (preparation of materials on suggested topic, exercises and translation of texts).
Assessment methods and criteria
The final assessment is conducted in the form of an exam; the following learning outcomes are assessed on the exam: LO 1.1-1,5; LO 2,1-2,5; LO 3,1; LO 4,1-4,3. The exam is conducted in the form of a written work with open answers with one theoretical question, which is evaluated with a maximum of 20 points, and a practical task, which is evaluated with a maximum of 20 points. The final number of points for the discipline is defined as the sum of points for systematic work during the semester, taking into account the final assessment (exam). Admission to the exam envisages that the student has successfully completed the assignments and has worked during the semester.
