PLO 9. To characterize dialectal and social varieties of classical and foreign languages, to describe the sociolinguistic situation.
PLO 11. To know the principles, technologies and methods of creating spoken and written texts of various genres and styles in national, classical and foreign languages.
PLO 15. To carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of ancient Greek and Latin languages texts of various styles and genres.
PLO 21. To have the skills of translating ancient Greek and Latin texts of various styles and genres.

Course content
The aim of the discipline is to train philological specialists who would have the theoretical foundations and practical skills of reading, translating, analyzing and interpreting historical works in the ancient Greek language of the classical era. Abstract of the academic discipline - the discipline is designed to acquaint students with the works in ancient Greek of the representatives of Attic historiography, linguistic, stylistic and cultural characteristics of their historiographical discourse; to consider the morphological, syntactic and rhetorical features of historical prose texts and the processes of formation of Greek-language historiography of the classical era, its influence on Hellenistic historiography and European historical science as a whole.

Assessment methods and criteria
The semester number of points is formed by the points received in the process of assimilation of the material from the entire educational course. The overall grade for the semester consists of points received for classroom and independent work. During the semester, evaluation is carried out in accordance with the specified types of work and forms of control. The credit is given based on the results of the student's work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who scored the minimum positive number of points - 60, receive "enrolled". Students who did not score the minimum positive number of points - 60, receive "failed". Students who scored a total of less than 60 points during the semester must prepare material on the topics for which the debt arose, in the form of writing a test, preparing presentations and/or abstracts, in order to pass the credit.
