Learning outcomes
PLO 1. To be confident using state language as well as foreign languages for written and spoken communication on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists and for organizing the effective intercultural communication. PLO 8. To know and to understand the system of ancient Greek, Latin and foreign languages, the general properties of literature as an art of words, the history of ancient Greek and Latin languages and literature, to be able to apply the knowledge in professional activities. PLO 11. To know the principles, technologies and methods of creating spoken and written texts of various genres and styles in national, classical and foreign languages. PLO 12. To analyze units of language, to determine their interaction, to characterize language phenomena and processes that cause them.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Have basic knowledge from the courses "Ancient Greek Language", "History of the Ancient Greek Language". The program is designed for students who have not studied Modern Greek.
Course content
The goal of the discipline is the formation of basic knowledge about the main features of the Modern Greek language complex; mastering the main features of Modern Greek pronunciation, acquiring theoretical and practical knowledge about the grammatical structure of the Modern Greek language, syntactic and lexical subsystems; mastering basic language skills. The basis of the course is the theoretical and practical examination of the phonetic, morphological and syntactic structure of the Modern Greek language in the functional aspect. The characteristics of the Modern Greek language system are presented comprehensively: all aspects of the language are studied in parallel with the development of speech skills and abilities. Learning the structure of the language takes place in typical communicative contexts and the main types of speech activity (listening, speaking, reading, writing). The course consists of three content parts: 1) reading and writing, production of pronunciation; 2) active accumulation of vocabulary and mastering of basic grammar; 3) correct use of language in various communicative situations.

Assessment methods and criteria
The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student in the process of learning the material from the entire educational course. The overall grade for the semester consists of points received for classroom and independent work (oral answers; written works; creative and research tasks in the form of a presentation; final control work). All types of works have a total of 60/100 points. Final evaluation: intermediate control. The final grade (60/100 points) consists of the sum of the points for the semester's work.
