Learning outcomes
Generalize and expand the concept of interaction of charged particles with electric and magnetic fields, elementary processes, basic characteristics of gas discharges of electrical conductivity, emission properties of solid bodies. To teach how to apply the basic information of the course in professional activities, to develop students' analytical thinking and scientific approach. Learn to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in the modeling and development of devices based on the movement of charged particles or experimental research of their properties.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
The discipline is based on the knowledge obtained in the courses of general physics and mathematics, in particular: "Atomic Physics", "Quantum Mechanics", "Electrodynamics", "Mathematical Analysis", "Probability Theory", "Linear Algebra", "Differential Equations".
Course content
To a large extent, the material of the discipline "Fundamentals of Physical Electronics" is the basis for the state exam in applied physics. The course covers the description of phenomena related to the movement of charged particles (electrons, ions) in vacuum, gas, plasma, solids and at their boundaries. In engineering, electronics is understood as a description of the principle of operation, construction, technology of manufacturing devices, which are based on the movement of charged particles. Physical electronics is understood as a description of the physical phenomena underlying such devices. Methods of experimental research of such phenomena are also an integral part of it. According to the environment in which charged particles move, physical electronics can be divided into vacuum, gas, plasma, and solid-state electronics. Within the discipline "Fundamentals of Physical Electronics" vacuum and gas electronics, as well as emission electronics and elements of surface physics are considered.
