Prerequisites and co-requisites
2.1. Successful mastering of the disciplines "Global environmental problems",
"Economic and social geography of the world", "International environmental agreements"
2.2. To know the main worldview concepts of world development; consequences of threats
for Ukraine, the essence of global and regional geoecological problems
modern world; the essence of environmental conflicts.
2.3. To be able to realize the values of civil society and
the need for its sustainable development, to identify the nature of anthropogenic pressure
in the system "man - society - nature", to find the necessary
information on the Internet and analyze the received information.
2.4. Possess elementary skills, complex analysis
geoecological problems from the angle of international security, use
professional terminology, implementation of safe activities (SK-10) with
taking into account economic and social factors; mitigation of climate change
and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG-30).
Course content
The educational discipline "European and international security" is aimed at
coverage of international and regional security issues in context
geoecological problems and their significance for the system of European and
international security. Global and regional dimensions of environmental
safety are considered in the context of the causes and nature
territorial and resource claims, the multidimensionality of which leads to
emergence of environmental conflicts. The materials are adapted for students
of the Faculty of Geography with the aim of providing future specialists with comprehensive
knowledge about international and regional security, understanding the specifics
functioning of security systems in different regions of the world. Collected materials
should acquaint students with areas of international activity regarding
stopping international environmental crime and related crimes
risks, demonstrate examples of restoration of natural ecosystems for
achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, ways to ensure international and
of European security and development of practical skills for analysis
concepts of security and their implementation during the performance of professional
responsibilities Separate components of the discipline are highlighting dangers,
caused by climate change and related problems, water scarcity
resources and dangers of cross-border spread of toxic and radioactive
compounds as a result of military operations in the "hot spots" of the planet.
