Course content
study discipline "Landscape Ecology"focused on the acquisition by students of the necessary methodical and methodological knowledge and practical skills of applying methods and techniques of analysis of structures, changes, stability landscapes from the standpoint of the subject-object (ecological) approach. Discipline introduces students with the main theoretical concepts of landscape ecology, with regularities territorial organization of landscapes and processes forming vertical and territorial landscape structure, its evolutionary and dynamic changes. Discipline is aimed at formation of special professional, social and personal competences necessary for study of landscapes from the standpoint of an ecological approach, acquisition and analysis of information about properties of landscapes, their dynamic and territorial features. The course consists of two content modules. The first module is devoted to the general methodological and conceptual foundations of landscape ecology and landscape analysis topical and choric scale levels. The second module covers choric issues, dynamic and applied landscape ecology. The functional block of the discipline involves the mastery of such components as ability apply basic knowledge of natural sciences and information technologies, the ability to apply quantitative methods in the study of landscapes, the ability to independently identify and analyze landscape and environmental problems at the local and regional scale levels, apply this knowledge and skills for planning purposes, assessment, landscape protection and international cooperation on these issues.
