1. To determine the main characteristics, processes, history and composition of the Earth as a planetary system and its geosphere, including the pedosphere (PR06). 2. Analyze the composition and structure of the pedosphere on different spatial and temporal scales (PR10).

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. to know the key provisions of the theoretical foundations of the disciplines of the physical and geographical cycle taught during the 1st semester (geology, meteorology, hydrology, soil science, etc.); 2. to be able to apply the principles, approaches and methods of learning the physical and geographical organization of territories and the space of existence of "living matter"; 3. to possess methods of geographical analysis and synthesis, basic knowledge of territory mapping, methods of statistical and mathematical analysis; 4. to have tools for searching biogeographical and geobotanical information and data in various information sources.
Course content
Biogeography with the basics of geobotany is a component of the cycle of professional training of specialists in the field geography, ecology, territorial management, natural resource management, cartography. Knowledge of its main provisions is necessary for solving a wide range of tasks in nature management, nature protection, ecological monitoring, medical geography, human ecology, recreational geography, and others. The educational discipline is dedicated to the study of the history of the formation and content of the theoretical and methodological foundations of biogeographic research. Provides knowledge about: the history of the formation and development of the Earth's organic world; the main regularities of the distribution of living organisms, biocenoses, settlements, biogeocenoses on the planet and in the regions. Provides: understanding of ecological prerequisites and factors of distribution of "living matter"; the possibility of assimilating knowledge of the basics of chorology, patterns of distribution, configuration and dynamics of habitats of organisms and biocenoses. Get acquainted with: theoretical and methodological principles of biogeographical and geobotanical analysis of territories; principles and tasks biogeographical and geobotanical classifications, zoning and zoning; regional floras, faunas, biomes. Provides an opportunity to acquire knowledge about the composition, structure and peculiarities of the organic world of Ukraine. Get acquainted with the peculiarities of anthropogenic changes and transformations of the organic world. Outlines ways and mechanisms of biodiversity conservation.
