Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) know the basics of general geomorphology and geology, ecology, and also possess
theoretical knowledge (basic school knowledge) of the physical geography of the world and Ukraine, mother
an idea of the geographical features and specificity of individual natural zones;
2) be able to establish relationships between ecosystem components, analyze them;

Course content
The content of the discipline covers a wide range of issues from general laws
formation of soils, their composition, structure and properties, individual factors of soil formation
natural zones and soils within their limits to the modern state, use and protection of the world's soils and
of Ukraine. The discipline consists of two content modules. In the first module it is analyzed
the essence of the concept of soil and modern approaches to its interpretation, historical development
soil science as a science, methodological foundations of soil science, the importance of soil for nature
and practical human activity, factors of soil formation, phase composition are considered
soil, basic physical, physico-chemical and morphological properties of soils.
In the second content module, the basics of soil formation, elementary, are considered
soil processes, modern classifications of soils, distribution patterns are analyzed and
basic laws of soil geography, soil-geographic zoning. In general terms
the soil cover of the world and Ukraine is studied. The module also covers the basics
rational use and protection of soil and land resources.
