PLO 1. Fluently communicate on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists in the state and foreign (English and German/French/Spanish/Italian/Portuguese) languages orally and in writing; use them to organize effective cross-cultural communication. PLO 2. Work effectively with information: select necessary information from various sources, in particular from professional literature and electronic databases, critically analyze and interpret, organize, classify, and systematize it. PLO 6. Use information and communication technologies to solve complex specialized tasks and challenges of professional activities. PLO 9. Characterize the dialect and social varieties of English and German/French/Spanish/Italian/Portuguese; describe sociolingual situation.

Distance form

Successful completion of the following courses: Practical Course of a Second Foreign Language and Translation/Interpretation; The Ukrainian Language; Introduction to Translation/Interpretation Studies; Practice of Translation and Interpretation from a Second Language. Knowledge of basic theoretical concepts of translation and interpretation studies, translation transformations, basic skills of interpretation and translation.

The purpose of the discipline is to introduce to students the basic principles of translation and interpretation of professional texts; their stylistic, lexical, grammatical and genre-related features; the main features of translation/interpretation activities in professional communication; training specialists to gain practical skills to overcome difficulties that arise in the process of translating/interpreting professional texts from various domains and a sufficient theoretical and practical background for further professional activity in a professional field.
