PLO 2. Process information effectively: collect relevant information from a variety of sources, including professional literature and electronic databases, critically analyse and interpret it, organize, classify and systematize it. PLO 8. Know and understand the system of language, the general properties of literature as the art of word, the history of the Spanish and English languages and literatures, to be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 13. Analyse and interpret works of Ukrainian and foreign fiction and oral folk art, determine their specific features and place in literary process. PLO 15. Carry out linguistic, literary and translation analysis of texts of various styles and genres.

Prerequisites for studying or choosing a discipline: 1. Possession of basic knowledge of the history of the world and Ukrainian literature. 2. Possession of basic knowledge of literary theory. 3. Understanding of the general patterns of development of literature and culture. 4. Possession of basic skills in analyzing a literary text. 5. Possession of skills of the independent processing of scientific and methodological and elementary skills of working with scientific literature.

The educational discipline "Foreign Literature (Antiquity - 17th century)" is a component of the educational and professional training program for specialists at the educational and qualification level "bachelor", it is included in the cycle of mandatory disciplines in the educational program "Translation from Italian and English" and is Part 1 of the multi-semester discipline "History of Foreign Literature". It consists of lectures and seminar classes, and also involves independent work of students. The form of the final semester control is an exam. The course has a survey character, attention is focused on the specifics of the development of Western literature from Antiquity to the end of the 17th century. The works chosen for study are representative, they are considered in the broad context of the progress of world literature and culture and highlight the national-historical specificity of the leading Western literatures at certain stages of their development. Lectures, seminars, individual work

Students with a total score lower than the critical-calculated minimum of 36 points are not allowed to take the exam. For students who do not reach the minimum grade level during the semester, a final semester test or essays on course topics are assessed at the end of the semester. The maximum grade for additional forms of assessment may not exceed 40% of the maximum total score for the semester - 24 points. The semester final grade is formed by the points obtained by the student during the semester and the points obtained at the exam, with the maximum distribution carried out according to the following algorithm: 60 points (60%) - semester control and 40 points (40%) - exam).
