The aim of the discipline is to provide students with an in-depth acquaintance with the types of tourist discourse, their main linguistic characteristics and the specifics of translating different genres of tourist discourse from English into Ukrainian and vice versa.
The course deals with the main genres of tourist discourse that a translator encounters in his/her professional work. The linguistic characteristics of these genres and the peculiarities of their translation are studied. Considerable attention is also paid to the main types of tourist resources, which are divided into cultural, environmental and tourist infrastructure, and the types of tourism where tourist discourse is used. The discipline is one of the disciplines of the student's free choice (Block of Disciplines "Translation in Intercultural Communication"). It is aimed at improving students' skills in industry-specific translation in the tourism sector and intercultural communication skills. The discipline is a continuation of the courses in translation and interpretation, linguistic and country studies.
