Learning outcomes
PLO 2. Process information effectively: collect relevant information from a variety of sources, including professional literature and electronic databases, critically analyse and interpret it, organize, classify and systematize it. PLO 6. Use information and communication technologies to solve complex specialized tasks and issues of professional activity. PLO 18. Have the skills to manage complex activities or projects in solving complicated problems in professional activity in translation and be responsible for making decisions under unpredictable conditions. PLO 25. Demonstrate the skills of using innovative technologies, various translation resources and translation automation tools.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Prerequisites for mastering the discipline:
knowledge of computer technology at the level of an experienced user; proficiency in Spanish at a minimum of B1 level or higher; knowledge of basic concepts of computer science, grammar of Ukrainian and Spanish languages;
ability to use text editors, handle simple tabular data, use computer dictionaries, some automatic translation programs, cloud storage service, programs for watching and listening to audio and video files; understanding of basic search engines filters usage;
basic skills in translating non-specialized texts from Spanish into Ukrainian.
Course content
The discipline is delivered within the block "Translation in Intercultural Communication (Spanish, English)". Information technology in the work of a translator is an integral part of the professional background of a translator, given the modern requirements for the speciality, the widespread demand for translations of large texts, Internet pages, publication of translations on websites, etc. During lectures, students gain knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of modern electronic dictionaries, machine translation programmes, and text corpora. During practical classes, students learn how to optimise their work with text editors, master electronic dictionaries of various types and the specifics of searching for names of precedent-setting cultural phenomena, proper names, terms, ways to obtain the necessary knowledge from the Internet and text corpora, and acquire basic skills in using machine translation and editing, as well as subtitling video.

Assessment methods and criteria
The assessment is based on classroom responses (oral/written form of work), completion of practical individual tasks, the ability to explain the progress of one's own work and to justify decisions made in the course of work, in particular, when performing and analysing machine translation, subtitling video translation, as well as on homework, class assignments, lecture notes and a written test. The grade is based on the student's performance throughout the semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who have scored a minimum positive number of points - 60, receive "passed". Students who do not score the minimum positive score of 60 points receive a "fail" grade. Students who have gained less than 60 points in total during the semester must pass the test by completing the material on the topics for which they have arisen in arrears, in the form of writing independent works, essays or, if necessary, write a test.
