Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Communicate freely on professional issues with experts and non-experts in Ukrainian, English and French languages, in oral and in written form, use these languages to organize effective cross-cultural communication. PLO 2. Process information effectively: collect relevant information from a variety of sources, including professional literature and electronic databases, critically analyze and interpret it, organize, classify and systematize it. PLO 5. Collaborate with colleagues, representatives of other cultures and religions, supporters of different political views, etc. PLO 22. Apply knowledge of the history and culture of Ukraine and linguistic and country studies of French- and English-speaking countries to organise successful communication and adequate translation.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Prior to taking this course, students should have the skills of translation from French, as well as know the basic linguistic concepts, features of semantics, structure and functioning of units of all levels of the French language, and the basics of communication theory; be able to apply linguistic tools in practice, use reference literature that deepens knowledge of the history, traditions and culture of France and French-speaking countries, freely perceive audio and video materials on the topics proposed and provided for by the curriculum; and have basic skills in selecting, analyzing and interpreting linguistic and country studies facts, translating non-specialized texts from a foreign language into Ukrainian, communicating on country studies topics.
Course content
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the state and administrative structure, physical and economic geography, nature, social and political life, history, science, language, culture and art, customs and traditions of modern France, as well as with the basic data on the history, geography, culture and present of French-speaking countries. The course has a general educational value and helps to improve practical knowledge of the French language, as well as to master socio-cultural and linguistic knowledge of the country.

Assessment methods and criteria
The maximum number of points during the semester is 60 points. In particular, semester assessment by forms of control: 1. Oral answer - max. 20 points 2. additions, participation in the discussion - max. 4 points 3. blitz survey/test - max .6 points 4. Preparation and defense of the presentation - max .10 points 5. Module and final tests - max. 20 points
