Prerequisites and co-requisites
Stylistics of the French language is a mandatory regulatory discipline, which is based on the general principles of linguistics and continues the development of the terminological apparatus, as well as the practical and theoretical mastery of the French language, which was started in junior courses. Before starting this course, students should know the basics of French morphology, syntax, vocabulary, phonetics and orthography. Be able to communicate correctly in a foreign language, observing phonetic, lexical-syntactic, and grammatical norms; make a linguistic stylistic analysis of texts; discuss and analyze works of classical French literature; abstract special and literary texts in a foreign language. Possess elementary skills of critical attitude to the analyzed phenomena, use of foreign language professional informative sources, skills of working with texts of various types and their abstracting.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
• lectures, seminar classes, independent work; • tasks assigned to independent work - preparation for lectures, seminar classes, essay presentation; • answers to the blitz survey before the start of the lecture; • oral answers at seminar classes (main answers and additions); • defense of the presentation of the essay on the chosen topic of the discipline.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment: exam. The distribution of points is carried out as follows: 60 points - during the semester and 40 points - the exam. Evaluation criteria: (RN 1.1-1.3, 2.1-2.3, 3.1-3.3, 4.1): 1. Oral answer at seminar classes - 5 points, 2. Additions, participation in the discussion - 3 p., 3. Preparation and defense of the presentation - 5 points, 4. Blitz survey - 5 points, 5. Preparation of the essay - 3-5 p., 6. Performing exercises - 2-3 p., 7. Writing the test - 10-15 points, 8. Modular control work - 20 p. The exam consists of three questions: - two theoretical ones (one is presented in oral form, the second in written form) and - one practical (exercise on the definition of a certain stylistic phenomenon (types of metaphors, metonymies, synecdoche, etc.) or stylistic analysis of an artistic text or its fragment). Evaluation of all types of work is carried out in points, in accordance with clause 7.1 of the RPND.
