Prerequisites and co-requisites
Prerequisites and performance requirements To succeed in studying the course, students are required to have prior knowledge and understanding of the essence of aesthetic categories (beautiful, ugly, tragic, comic), the concepts of "aesthetic perception", "aesthetic feeling", etc., basic ideas of integration of arts and the Ukrainian language and literature pedagogy; to be able to provide arguments for the philosophical-aesthetic and psychological-pedagogical necessity of learning Ukrainian language and literature in integration with various arts, identify the transformation of literary images into musical, theatrical, cinematographic ones, analyze a work of literature and art; possess elementary skills of applying modern techniques of teaching Ukrainian literature in secondary school.
Course content
Course description The course aims at building a system of knowledge about planning, organization, and assessment of learning the Ukrainian language and literature in integration with arts in secondary school, to enhance the perception of a literary work, develop the skills of its analysis and interpretation based on a broad artistic context. The course consists of 2 modules. Module 1 examines the theoretical foundations of teaching Ukrainian literature in integration with various types of art; Module 2 focuses on the development of students’ skills of literary analysis through the involvement of visual arts, cinema, and theater arts. The summative assessment is a pass/fail test.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Classroom activities and teaching techniques The course combines such formats of instruction as lectures and practical sessions, independent and project work, and problem-based learning. The major activities that engage students and provide evidence to assess their performance are oral contributions at practical sessions, project presentations, a creative assignment, a module test, and an end-of-course test. A student can score max. 60 and min. 36 points for the performance in these activities. Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment A student’s final grade is based on a 100-point grading system. The total score is made up of the scores earned for the performance during the term (max. 100, min. 60 points). Formative assessment involves oral contributions at practical sessions (36 points), project presentations (21 points), a creative assignment (10 points), a module test (20 points), and an end-of-course test (13 points). A ‘pass/fail’ assessment is based on the outcomes of the course performance during the term and does not involve any additional assessment events. To succeed in the pass/fail assessment, students are required to gain a passing grade of 60; students fail if the score is below 60.
