Learning outcomes
Programme Learning Outcomes: PLO 2. Know patterns of personality development, age characteristics of students, their psychology, and specifics of family relations. PLO 4. Know and understand the particularities of teaching heterogeneous groups of students, apply differentiation of training, and organize educational processes tailored to the special needs of students. PLO 5. Make use of major professional concepts and appropriate terminology. PLO 9. Know the forms and methods of educating students in in-class and extracurricular activities, and be able to track the progress in the personality development of a schoolchild. PLO 10. Course content
Course description The course aims to equip students with knowledge about the fundamentals of psychology and consists of 2 modules. Module 1 explores research methods employed in psychology, the history of views on a child and childhood, and classic approaches to understanding the specifics of child development. Module 2 focuses on theories of learning, cognitive and moral development of a child, cultural and historical approaches to childhood studies; analysis of the ontogenetic development of a child. Summative assessment in terms two and three is an examination.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Classroom activities and teaching techniques The course combines such formats of instruction as: lectures, practical sessions, and independent work. The major activities that engage students and provide evidence to assess their performance are project work, and a module test paper. For the performance in these activities, a student can score max. 60 and min. 36 points. A detailed description of activities and formative assessment is presented in the course curriculum posted on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment The term total score is based on the 100-point grading scheme. It is composed of the scores earned during the coursework in the term (maximum 60 points, minimum 36 points) and the scores for the summative assessment – exam (maximum 40 points, minimum 24 points). The formative assessment considers project work (30 points) and a module test paper (30 points). The summative assessment is a written exam consisting of two theoretical questions and two practical assignments, each of which is allotted 10 points.
