To successfully complete the course, students must first master the disciplines: "Chinese language", "Translation studies", "Theory and practice of Chinese language translation", "Fundamentals of Chinese language translation practice", etc. Students should also know the theoretical foundations of general linguistics and translation studies; have an advanced level of Chinese; to be able to apply the theoretical skills of translation of various genres of material in the practical plane.

The purpose of the discipline is to form in students of Oriental studies special in-depth knowledge of the genre theory of translation, understanding of the specifics of Chinese translation studies, and training in their practical ability to analyze works of various genres. Abstract. The "Genre Theories of Translation (Chinese Language)" course includes 2 content modules. Module 1 is aimed at forming students' system of knowledge about modern genre theories of translation and the specifics of multi-genre translation material; acquisition by students of practical skills regarding the selection of strategies and methods of translation of texts of various genres and styles. Module 2 is focused on the acquisition by students of practical skills of translating Chinese texts of various genres into Ukrainian, in particular, with mastering the peculiarities of translation transformations at the lexical-grammatical, stylistic, and genre levels. The discipline ends with a test.

The course provides for the following forms of training organization: practical classes and unsupervised work. The main types of work and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: classwork, written control work, report/presentation (project work), modular control work with open tasks. A student can score a maximum of 100 points and a minimum of 60 points for performing the prescribed types of work. In detail, the criteria for evaluating the types of works during the semester are presented in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.

The overall assessment consists of points received for the work during the semester (maximum – 100 points, minimum – 60 points) and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who scored less than 60 points in total for the semester must prepare material on the topics for which the debt arose, in the form of writing unsupervised works, essays, or, if necessary, write a control paper based on the results of the study: LR 1.1-1.3, 2.1 -2.5, 3.1-3.3, 4.1-4.5. Teaching and assessment is conducted in Ukrainian and Chinese. The evaluation criteria are presented in detail in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
