Prerequisites and co-requisites
In order to complete successfully the course, students must first master the disciplines: "Chinese language", "History of foreign literature (classical literature of the East)", "Linguistic studies", etc. They should also know the theoretical foundations of philological science (linguistics and literary studies) and cultural studies, as well as traditional and new paradigms of modern world literary studies; to possess techniques and methods of traditional literary analysis of artistic texts, basic skills of artistic translation and textual analysis of original works of Chinese literature.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students with the peculiarities of the literary process in China of the 2nd part of 20th century and Chinese-language literature in the diaspora; forming in them the practical ability to analyze various artistic works on the basis of modern theories and methods.Abstract. Within the framework of the second part of the course "Trends and Movements of Chinese Literature of the 20th Century" there are provided 2 content modules. Module 1 is focused on the study of the prerequisites for the emergence and development of socialist realism, modernism, and postmodernism in Chinese literature of the 2nd part of 20th century, features of the development of relevant literary currents and trends; analysis of the main theoretical works of Chinese and Western literary scholars; study of modern methods and techniques of analysis of artistic works, etc.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course provides for the following forms of organization of study: lectures, seminar classes and unsupervised work. The main types of work and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: classwork, analytical report/presentation (research work), modular control work with open and test tasks. A student can score a maximum of 60 points and a minimum of 36 points for performing the prescribed types of work. In detail, the criteria for evaluating the types of works during the semester are presented in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
Assessment methods and criteria
The total grade consists of points received for work during the semester (maximum – 60 points, minimum – 36 points) and points of the final assessment in the form of an exam (maximum – 40 points, minimum – 24 points). The format of the exam is written: it consists of 2-x written tasks with open answers on the topics of 2 modules - 20 points each). The exam is conducted in Ukrainian and Chinese according to the Learning outcomes: LR 1.1; LR 1.2; LR 1.4; LR 2.1; LR 2.2; LR 3.2; LR 4.1. The evaluation criteria are presented in detail in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
