In order to successfully complete the course, students must first master the disciplines: "Practical course of oriental language (Chinese)", "Basics of linguistics", "Basics of translation theory", "Basics of translation practice", "Business communication and speech etiquette of an oriental language (Chinese)", "Lexicology of the Chinese language", "Theoretical grammar of the Chinese language", "Theoretical aspects of the syntax of the Chinese language", "Translation of Chinese-language economic and commercial texts", "Oral Chinese-Ukrainian two-way interpretation at conferences", "Translation of Chinese scientific speech", "Stylistics of Chinese language".
Course content
The goal of the discipline is to deepen the knowledge of students in the field of stylistics of the modern Chinese language within the limits of scientific and official-business style, which would provide them with an adequate basis for fluency and professional mastery of the language in the context of intercultural communication, the formation of professional translation skills of scientific and official-business texts.Abstract. The course "Speech Culture: Academic and Business Discourse (Chinese language)" includes 2 modules. Module 1 aims to study the lexical-grammatical, functional-stylistic and structural features of academic and business discourses of the modern Chinese language. Module 2 is focused on consideration of issues related to the extralinguistic factor in the process of professional communication, taking into account the specifics of intercultural communication. The discipline ends with an exam.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course provides the following forms of training organization: practical classes and unsupervised work. The main types of work and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: classwork, presentation (project work), reports (research and abstract work), modular control work. By completing the prescribed types of work, a student can score a maximum of: in the first semester (Module 1) – 100 points and a minimum of 60 points; in the second semester (Module 2) the maximum is 60 points, the minimum is 36 points. In detail, the criteria for evaluating the types of works during the semester are presented in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
Assessment methods and criteria
The overall assessment in the first semester consists of points received for work during the semester (maximum – 100 points, minimum – 60 points) and does not include additional assessment measures; in the second semester - from the points received for work during the semester (maximum - 60 points, minimum - 36 points) and points of the final assessment in the form of an exam (maximum - 40 points, minimum - 24 points). The format of the exam is written: it consists of one theoretical question (15 points) and one practical one - translation, lexical-grammatical and structural-syntactic analysis of a Chinese text of academic/business discourse (25 points). The exam is conducted in Ukrainian and Chinese according to the Learning outcomes: LR 1.1; LR 1.2; LR 1.3; LR 1.4; LR 1.5; LR 2.1; LR 2.2; LR 2.3; LR 4.1; LR 4.2.
