            Learning outcomes
        
        
            PLO 10. Know the rules of standard language and be able to apply them in practice. PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques of oral and written texts of different genres and styles creation in Ukrainian, English and German / French / Spanish / Italian / Portuguese. PLO 12. Analyse language units, determine their interaction, and characterize linguistic phenomena and the underlying processes. PLO 15. Perform linguistic, literary and translation analysis of texts of different styles and genres.

            Prerequisites and co-requisites
        
        
            Students must be fluent in the first foreign language at the advanced level (C1) and know the basic concepts of English lexicology and translation studies.
        
    
            Course content
        
        
            Stylistics as one of the most important components of linguistics is an obligatory subject of the educational program. The study of stylistics by students of philology, including translators, fosters the development of their analytical skills, the ability to work independently on texts of different genres, their deeper perception of texts as well as develops the skills of active foreign language proficiency. Stylistics also cultivates students' aesthetic taste, develops the ability to think critically. The purpose of the course is to equip the students with basic concepts of stylistics, features of English texts of different functional styles, the specifics of using language on different levels in the stylistic function, and understand the functions of stylistic devices.

            Assessment methods and criteria
        
        
            Semester assessment: maximum number of points during the semester is 60 points; minimum - 36 points. For the answer at the seminar the student can get from 6 to 10 points. Preparation of tasks for seminars is estimated at a maximum of 20 points and a minimum of 12. Test work - max. 20 points / min. 10; Presentation - max. 10 points / min. 8.
Final assessment in the form of an exam: the first theoretical question - 15 points; second theoretical question - 10 points; practical question - 15 points.
Maximum number of points according to the exam results - 40 points; the minimum number of points according to the results of the exam is 24 points.
