Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the discipline "Basics of Linguistics"; knowledge of the grammatical terminology of the Ukrainian language, the basics of the Western European language.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to provide students with basic knowledge of the Persian language, namely: to teach Persian phonetics, to develop reading and writing skills in Persian, to familiarize with the basics of the normative grammar of the Persian language, to provide a basic vocabulary, thus creating a foundation sufficient for a) understanding simple Persian texts; b) development of speaking skills; c) application of acquired knowledge of the Persian language in professional activities.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Practical lessons provide the formation of Persian phonetic, lexical and grammatical skills of the students of Arabic Studies in the process of active work in the classroom. Control of students’ mastering lexical and grammatical material is carried out via oral questioning and written tasks, tests, lexical dictations, and modular control works. Homework and translation exercises are mandatory.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semestral assessment is based on the oral testing, written assignments, translation exercises – 36/60 points, modular test papers – 24/40 points, final test paper – 12/20 points. The credit is given based on the results of the student’s work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who scored 60 points, the required minimum, receive “passed”. Students who failed to score 60 points, the required minimum, receive “failed”. Those students who scored totally less than 60 points during the semester period should complete a test paper in the items which he/she failed to pass. Final score 60-100 – passed; 0-59 – failed.
