Learning outcomes
PLO 1. To communicate freely on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists in national and foreign languages (Arabic and French) orally and in writing, use them to organize effective intercultural communication. PLO 10. To know the norms of the literaryArabic and French languages and be able to apply them in practical activities. PLO 11. To know the principles, technologies and methods of creating oral and written texts of various genres and styles in the national and foreign (Arabic and French) languages. PLO 12. To analyze Arabic linguistic units, determine their interaction and characterize linguistic phenomena and processes that cause them. PLO 20. To demonstrate basic knowledge of translation theory, basic theoretical and practical problems of translation studies in the aspect of a specific pair of languages (Arabic and Ukrainian).

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the disciplines “Oriental language: intermediate level”, “Basics of Translation Practice”, “Basics of Translation Theory”, “Translation Practice”, “Stylistics of Arabic language: a translational aspect”, “Business language and Arabic business etiquette”.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to improve and develop students' skills in oral and written Arabic-Ukrainian two-way translation based on knowledge of the basic principles of the general and partial theory of translation. The discipline is a part of the complex discipline "Translation Practice" and has a practical orientation.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The discipline provides only practical classes aimed at improving students' skills in oral and written Ukrainian-Arabic translation. Completion of homework and translation exercises is mandatory. Control from the teacher's side is carried out by means of oral questioning and the organization of written tasks, tests, lexical dictations, modular control works.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semestral assessment is based on: oral responses, written works, lexical dictations, and translation exercises – 24/40 points, modular control works – 12/20 points. Summarizing evaluation in the form of exam is max. 40 / min. 24 points (60% of minimum required quantity); the exam is conducted in written and oral forms, and proposes written translation of two unfamiliar texts from Ukrainian into Arabic. Students who scored less than 36 points in total during the semester are not allowed to take the exam.
