Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Understand the specifics and peculiarities of the implementation of cultural ideas, images and meanings, as well as critically evaluate the possibilities of their interpretation for solving socially significant problems. PLO 2. Analyze textual and visual sources of information on cultural phenomena and processes, verify information in accordance with professional tasks. PLO 6. Communicate freely in national and foreign languages orally and in writing to discuss professional issues, present the results of research and projects. PLO 8. To make effective decisions regarding the solution of complex tasks and practical problems of cultural development of society. PLO 13. Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting the course, master's students should have basic factual knowledge of a humanitarian nature, know the sources, formation and peculiarities of the functioning of folk culture in Ukraine and the world. To be able to work with educational and scientific information in the field of cultural anthropology, to process it, to make generalizations and conclusions about the peculiarities of the cultural heritage of our country, the traditional culture of ethnic communities of Ukraine. Have basic research skills; comparative analysis, description and assessment of the value of objects of ethno-cultural heritage.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to write and defend a master’s qualification (research) thesis – to develop research skills and to establish the actual compliance of the graduate’s educational and qualification level with the requirements of the educational and qualification characteristics of the specialty 034.Culturology under the OP “Cultural anthropology with the professional study of a foreign language ".
Abstract. The master's qualification work in cultural anthropology represents a complex research project of students aimed at deepening special skills and knowledge of an innovative nature, analytical and creative application of this knowledge and production of new knowledge for solving complex specialized problems, solving actual practical problems of ethnocultural studies. Writing a qualifying master's thesis involves choosing a topic for master's research in the first year of study, drawing up a work plan together with a supervisor (selection of a subject, development of a hypothesis, field research strategies), approbation of the collected material during the annual conference of young scientists of the Institute of Philology of KNU, analysis and theoretical understanding collected data and processing them into a qualifying master's thesis. The work is submitted to the examination commission in writing using the approved form together with other accompanying documents: an explanatory note (concise display of the general characteristics and main content of the work); feedback from the scientific supervisor; reviews The public defense of the master's thesis takes place in the form of a presentation using various forms of visualization of the report (graphs, tables, drawings, etc.) and the use of technical means (slides, multimedia projectors, audio and video equipment, computers, etc.). At the public defense, the feedback of the project manager and the review of the master's thesis are announced.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
advising the scientific supervisor, reviewing the master's thesis, working on the master's thesis: summarizing the content of the subject area in terms of the topic of the master's scientific qualification thesis, conducting a bibliographic search using modern information technologies, applying modern methods of scientific research in cultural anthropology, modifying existing methods in accordance with the task work, analysis and systematization of results obtained in the process of research/scientific experiment/expert evaluation; generalization of research results and substantiation of their reliability, design of obtained results and work in general in accordance with current requirements, presentation of the results of your research and convincing proof of its originality, relevance, and novelty.
Assessment methods and criteria
The master's thesis is evaluated on a 100-point scale, taking into account the sum of the points assigned by the scientific supervisor, the reviewer and the examination committee in accordance with the approved evaluation criteria. The assessment for writing a master's qualifying research paper consists of three components:
1) assessment of the scientific supervisor, who fills out the feedback form of the scientific supervisor (Appendix A) in accordance with the evaluation criteria (up to 10 points max.); 2) evaluations of the reviewer, who fills out the review form (Appendix B) in accordance with the evaluation criteria (up to 45 points max.)
3) marks for the defense of the qualification work (up to 45 points max.), which is issued by the attestation commission and entered in the final evaluation sheet (Appendix B), which also contains the overall mark as an arithmetic whole of three components (up to 100 points max.).
