Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Communicate freely on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists in national and foreign languages orally and in writing, use them to organize effective intercultural communication. PLO 9. Characterize the dialectal and social varieties of the Ukrainian language, describe the sociolinguistic situation. PLO 10. Know the norms of the literary language and be able to apply them in practical activities. PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and methods of creating oral and written texts of various genres and styles in national and foreign (foreign) languages. PLO 12. Analyze linguistic units, determine their interaction and characterize linguistic phenomena and processes that cause them. PLO 17. Collect, analyze, systematize and interpret the facts of language and speech and use them to solve complex problems and problems in specialized areas of professional activity and/or learning.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of the courses: Introduction to Linguistics, Lexicology and Phraseology, Phonetics of SYM; 2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of general linguistics, phonetics of the modern Ukrainian language; 3. Mastery of phonetic analysis techniques; the principles of collecting, accumulating, processing and searching for information; 4. Ability to write text in phonetic transcription, work with dictionaries.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students with the fundamental concepts of Ukrainian dialectology, the interaction of the main forms of existence of the Ukrainian language (literary and dialectal), to provide knowledge about the systemic and structural features of the main dialects of the Ukrainian language, methods of their fixation and analysis. Students get acquainted with the basic concepts of dialectology, methods of collecting and researching dialect materials, with the history of the formation of dialectology as a science, with the main centers and directions of modern scientific research. Particular attention is devoted to the detailed study of all dialects within the three dialects of the Ukrainian language, familiarization with small ethnic groups of Ukrainians (Lemkas, Hutsuls, Boykas, etc.). Students work with dictionaries of dialect vocabulary, dialect texts, fiction and journalism, which are created on a dialect basis, get acquainted with audio and video materials with the participation of dialect speakers.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Methods: lecture, practical class, independent work Activities: oral answer, written answer, essay, report, presentation, recording of dialect speech, final control task.
Assessment methods and criteria
The form of final control is credit. According to the types of works, a student can score the following number of points: oral answer - 0-4 written work (text analysis) - 0-10 abstract, report, presentation - 0-10 points recording of dialect speech - from 0 to 10 points. task of final control - 0-20. The credit score is formed as the sum of all points scored during the semester: 0-59 – not counted, 60-100 credits.
