Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To demonstrate an adequate mastery of national and foreign languages to perform written and spoken communication, namely in professional and academic communication; to present the results of their studies in these national and foreign languages.
PLO 4. To assess and analyze critically vital social, individual and professional issues and offer tactics for their resolution in challenging and unpredictable conditions, which require the application of new approaches and forecasting.
PLO 24.2 To apply principles of oral translation, note-taking, and oral translator’s rhetoric techniques in English.
PLO 25.2 To have command of simultaneous and conference translation techniques in English and one of the languages (German/ French/ Spanish/ Italian/Portuguese).

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the courses "Introduction to linguistics," "Introduction to translation studies," "Comparative lexicology," "Comparative grammar," and "Practice of translation and interpretation." Proficiency in German - no lower than C1 level.
Course content
The discipline involves familiarization with the principles of interpreting in practice and is aimed at developing the skills of consecutive and simultaneous interpretation of conferences on the material of authentic speeches, presentations, and reports from German into Ukrainian and vice versa.

Consecutive interpreting, simultaneous interpreting, application of shorthand interpreting technique, blitz questioning, written summary work
Assessment methods and criteria
The control of knowledge is based on the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the material learned, including the evaluation of theoretical training-learning outcomes (knowledge 1.1 - 1.3), which is 40% of the total grade, and assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills 2.1-2.3); (communication 3.); (autonomy and responsibility 4.), which is 60% of the total grade.
