Learning outcomes
PLO 2. Confidently speak the state and foreign languages to carry out written and oral communication, in particular in situations of professional and scientific communication; present the results of research in state and foreign languages. PLO 5. Find the best ways to effectively interact in a professional team and with representatives of other professional groups of different levels. PLO 21. Know the specific features of translator’s work in different environments (text, media, audiovisual, web space) and be able to use the necessary tools and techniques. PLO 23. Be able to plan the process of oral and written translation in accordance with the stages of the translation project. PLO 24.2. Apply the principles of interpreting two-string translation, translation cursive writing and the technique of speaking an interpreter in English.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
By the beginning of the course, students should know the basic terminology in the field of jurisprudence, demonstrate fluency in practical skills of writing, speaking and listening comprehension of information in English and Ukrainian; Have the necessary minimum of extralinguistic knowledge of the legal and judiciary systems of English-speaking countries; Be able to correctly form the communicative and logical structure of sentences in the sourse language and in the target language; adequately reproduce the information of the original text by means of the target language in order to achieve pragmatic adequacy of the translation.
Course content
The program aims to teach students to adequately reproduce the specific features of the texts of modern Ukrainian-language courtroom discourse in English: familiarization of undergraduates with court records, petitions, standard agreements and scripts of debates between the conflicting parties (defence lawyer and prosecuting lawyer) (based on official sources and Internet publications) for further consecutive interpretation and/or referencing, sight translation or written translation. The goal is an in-depth study of the lexical and stylistic features of these texts. Students are taught to correctly draw up a written translation of specialized texts in full compliance with existing standards.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Training activities during the semester include practical classes; daily home assignments; vocabulary tests and translation projects.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester Assessment: During the semester, the following types of activities are subject to current assessment: oral, written assignments, individual and group projects. The following learning outcomes are evaluated: PLO 1.1, PLO 1.3, PLO 2.3; PLO 2.4; PLO 2.5; PLO 3.2; PLO 4.2; PLO 4.4. After studying the relevant topics, blitz vocabulary quizes and written tests are conducted to determine the level of students' mastering of educational material. The maximum number of points during the semester is 100 points, the following learning outcomes are evaluated during the final test: PLO 1.1, PLO 1.3, PLO 2.3; PLO 2.4; PLO 2.5; PLO 3.2; PLO 4.2; PLO 4.4. Final test consists of three tasks (the content of the tasks and assessment criteria are laid out in the work program of the subject).
