The aim of the discipline is to optimize translation activities by developing students' skills and abilities in the use of modern information technologies for translating specialized texts. The discipline consists of six thematic blocks that provide students with basic skills in written translation of specialized texts between German as a foreign language and the native language. The first part covers an overview of translation automation tools and an introduction to specific devices and specialized software commonly used by professional translators. The second part focuses on text editors and the main functions of software for working with spreadsheets and creating presentations. The third part provides information on essential electronic dictionaries. The fourth part describes the methodology of working with certain computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools, which are powerful automation tools based on translation memory technology. The fifth part familiarizes students with the basic principles of ensuring translation quality. The sixth part is dedicated to localization.
