Learning outcomes
PLO 3. To apply modern methods and technologies, IT in particular, for the successful and effective professional activity and quality research within the Persian philology. PLO 4. To assess and critically analyse socially personally and professionally significant issues, and suggest solutions in complex and unpredictable conditions, which requires the application of new approaches and forecasting. PLO 10. To collect and systematise linguistic, literary and folklore facts, to interpret and translate texts of different styles and genres (depending on the specialisation elected). PLO 21. To apply knowledge and skills necessary to ensure adequate written and oral Persian-Ukrainian two-way translation in various sectors of the economy and human life.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the following courses: “Fundamentals of the Theory of Translation”, “Fundamentals of the Practice of Translation”, “Stylistics of Persian”, “Theoretical Grammar of Persian” and “Advanced Persian: Advanced level”.
Course content
The goal of the course is to give students a fully professional understanding of the subject, problems and main tasks of the partial theory of translation with regard to Persian and Ukrainian; consolidating, systematizing and deepening knowledge of the general theory of translation, clarifying the range of problems of Persian translation methodology. The discipline is a part of the research component of the educational program.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities comprise interactive lectures, seminar classes and self-study work of students, which involves oral communication during seminars, working with dictionary and referent data sources, making presentation, completion of written translation, editing translated text.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment is based on successful communication in seminar classes, reports with analysis of scientific literature, presentations/précis – 12/20 points; modular test papers - 24/40 points. Final exam scores max. 40 / min. 24 points (60% of the maximum quantity of points assigned); the exam comprises oral and written tasks as follows: 1) an oral answer to two theoretical questions; 2) written translation of a text fragment with an analysis of the chosen translation strategy. Student who, during the semester, failed to score totally 36 points, the required minimum, may not take the examination.
