Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To have deep knowledge of the official (Ukrainian) and foreign languages for the written and oral communication purposes, professional and scientific communication in particular; to present research results in the official (Ukrainian) and foreign languages. PLO 6. To apply knowledge of expressive, emotional and logical linguistic means, and speech techniques in order to achieve planned pragmatic results and establish successful communication. PLO 10. To collect and systematise linguistic, literary and folklore facts, to interpret and translate texts of different styles and genres (depending on the specialisation elected). PLO 14. To create, analyze and edit texts of different styles and genres. PLO 15. To choose the best research approaches and methods for the analysis of specific linguistic or literary material.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. To know: • functional styles and genres of English speech; • basics of speech genres of business discourse; • peculiarities of the use of linguistic means in English business speech; • peculiarities of intercultural business communication with representatives of English-speaking cultures; • basic theories of translation and their criticism: • basic strategies and techniques of translation. 2. To be able to: • perceive, select, critically interpret and interpret information from English-language sources to solve educational and professional tasks; • correctly use language tools/terminology in English oral and written speech; • decode the speaker's intentions by analyzing communicative strategies in oral and written speech; • analyze, compare, compare language and speech phenomena at the level of sentence, paragraph, text; • professionally use linguistic terms to explain the analyzed phenomena; • analyze, create and edit English-language texts of various genres.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to improve the socio-cultural, speech and translation competence of students and increase the effectiveness of business communication in English by familiarizing students with the peculiarities of business discourse, systematizing knowledge about speech means and rhetorical strategies of the English language in the specified discourse, forming students' skills in using speech means and rhetoric strategies in various situations of intercultural business communication, improving the skills of translating business discourse texts into English.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Class work, project work, academic essay (integrated reading and writing skills), academic essay (integrated listening and writing skills), modular control work (rhetorical text analysis).
Assessment methods and criteria
The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student for answers in practical classes and for MKW. During the semester, a student can score a maximum of 60 points. Students who scored a total of less points than the critical calculation minimum - 36 points, are not allowed to take the exam. For students who during the semester did not reach the minimum cut-off grade level, at the end of the semester, a final semester test is conducted or essays are evaluated on course topics. The final grade is formed by the points received by the student during the semester and the points received on the exam, the maximum distribution is carried out according to the following algorithm: 60 points (60%) - semester control and 40 points (40%) - exam).
