Learning outcomes
PLO 16. To know and understand the major notions, theories, and conceptions of structural, mathematical, and computational linguistics, and to be able to use them in professional activity. PLO 17. To collect, analyze, systematize (to create system-oriented and text-oriented linguistic database) and interpret language facts and speech, and to use them for solving complicated tasks and problems of automatic linguistic analysis in specialized spheres of professional and/or learning activity. PLO: 7, 19, 25.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of courses: Traditional and computer lexicography, Corpus linguistics, Object-oriented programming, Databases, and knowledge bases, Probability theory, and mathematical statistics; 2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of probability theory and mathematical statistics, mathematical and computer linguistics, and information technologies; 3. Having statistical analysis techniques; skills in mathematical and computer modeling of linguistic phenomena; the principles of surveying the linguistic subject area, developing software and databases, creating a console interface; 4. Ability to design a conceptual data model of a specific subject area; use SQL and SparSQL; create software systems using databases.
Course content
The theoretical foundations and functions of modern linguistic statistics, and methods of linguistic statistical research are considered within the discipline. Special attention is paid to the methods of computer modeling of a linguistic-statistical experiment on the material of two text samples. The discipline involves the development by students of an automatic system of statistical text research.

Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, after lectures on relevant topics, seminars, and laboratory classes are held, which are evaluated according to the types of work. The semester final grade is formed by the points received by the student in the process of performing the declared types and forms of education, and the points received on the exam, the maximum distribution is carried out according to the following algorithm: 60 points (60%) - semester control and 40 points (40%) - exam).
