Learning outcomes
PLO 3. To organize the process of learning and self-education. PLO 18. To have skills for managing projects and solving complicated issues in professional activity in the field of computational linguistics and be responsible for making decisions under unpredictable circumstances. PLO 22. To know the basic Mathematics conceptions and terminology and Mathematic methods and use them to solve specialized tasks of computational linguistics.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
A student has to meet the following requirements: 1. To complete the first part of the course. 2. To know the definitions and basic properties of Euclidean spaces, elementary functions, sequences, limits, and continuous functions. 3. To be able to find limits of real-valued functions and to compute low-order determinants.
Course content
The course comprises differential calculus, multivariable calculus (including unconditional and conditional optimization), and integral calculus, in particular improper integrals.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral answer - Topic No. 1: LO 1.1; LO 1.2; LO 2.2; LO 3.1; LO 4.1 – 6 points. Test - Topic No. 1: LO 1.1; LO 1.2; LO 2.2; LO 4.1 – 24 points. Oral answer - Topic No. 2: LO 1.1; LO 1.3; LO 2.2; LO 3.1; LO 4.1 – 6 points. Test - Topic No.1: LO 1.1; LO 1.3; LO 2.2; LO 4.1 – 24 points. Final assessment (exam): The total mark is 40 points. A student must get at least 24 points (60% of the total mark) for his score to be counted; the results of learning to be accessed are LO 1.1; LO 1.2; LO 1.3; LO 2.1; LO 2.2; LO 2.3; LO 3.2. The exam is in written form. The assignment consists of 4 tasks. The answers are evaluated by a maximum of 10 points. Tasks 1 and 2 are theoretical questions while tasks 3 and 4 are the problems to be solved.
