Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To work with information effectively: to select necessary information from different sources, in particular from professional literature and electronic bases; to analyze and interpret it critically; to arrange it and make proper classification and systematization.
PLO 7. To understand major problems of philology and approaches to their solution with the use of relevant methods, in particular, innovative interdisciplinary approaches of applied (computational) linguistics and information technologies; to explain their interrelation in the integrated system of interdisciplinary knowledge.
PLO 8. To know the systemic characteristics of the Ukrainian and English languages, structural and systemic organization of the written and oral texts as a verbal communication mechanism; to know the general properties of literature as an art of word and be able to use this knowledge in professional activity.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student must have basic knowledge of the theory of literature according to school programs on Ukrainian and foreign literature.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to repeat, update and deepen the knowledge of literary theory acquired in secondary school during lessons on Ukrainian and foreign literature. The educational discipline is a mandatory course for students of the "Applied (Computer) Linguistics and English" educational program, which involves the study of three interrelated thematic blocks: literature as an art form, a work of art, and the principles of its analysis, the literary process in its theoretical understanding, taking into account the latest achievements of scientific thought. Thus, the student will receive systematic knowledge about the unique nature of verbal art, its functions, poetics, types and genres, directions, and currents.

Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, evaluation is carried out according to the types of work: Answers in the seminar session - 48/30, control test - 52/30. The credit is given based on the results of the student's work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures
