Learning outcomes
PLO3. To apply modern methods and techniques, namely informational, in order to perform successful and effective professional activity and guarantee the quality of research in the field of translation.
PLO6. To use knowledge on expressive, emotive, logical language means and speech techniques in order to achieve an intended pragmatic result and organize successful communication.
PLO14. Create, analyze and edit texts of various styles and genres.
PLO15. Choose optimal research approaches and methods for the analysis of specific linguistic or literary material.
PLO22. To know types, genres and compositional structure of texts of various functional styles, as well as principles, methods and models of their translation and literary editing.

Course content
The course consists of two parts: "Basic concepts of comparative stylistics" and "Comparative aspect of functional and literary stylistics". The first is aimed at mastering tasks and basic concepts of comparative stylistics, as well as at studying the stylistic aspect of vocabulary, lexical subsystems and grammatical means. The second highlights the system of functional styles of the modern French language, as well as the system of figurative artistic means in their comparison with the Ukrainian language. Attention is also paid to the stylistics of the text, which is important for translation studies analysis.
The discipline ends with an exam.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
• lectures, practical classes, individual work;
• tasks assigned to individual work as: preparation for lectures, practicals classes, presentation of the topic;
• answers to the blitz poll before the start of the lecture;
• oral answers (main answers and additions);
• defense / presentation of the essay up the chosen
Assessment methods and criteria
• oral answers, additions, participation in discussions, blitz oral test: LO1.1 – 1.3, 2.1-2.2, 3.1-3.2, 4.1-4.2 – min. are 40 points;
• defense/presentation of the chosen topic: LO1.1-1.3, 2.1-2.2, 3.1-3.2, 4.1-4.2 - min. are 20 points;
• the credit is the sum of all types of work per semester;
• evaluation of all types of work is carried out in points, in accordance with the clause 7.1 of the “Work plan of the scientific discipline”.
