Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the courses "History of Foreign Literature" (bachelor's degree, specialty course "Fundamentals of Narratology" and literary courses from the master's program of the first year of study, namely: "History and Theory of Literary Criticism", "Comparative Literary Studies". Proficiency in the core literary concepts is required for the pursuit of literary analytics.
Course content
Purpose: development and expansion of the students’ professional perspectives, formation of ideas about the evolution of narratology, determination of the main criteria of postclassical narratology, elaboration of an efficient tool for the analysis of experimental texts. Subject: theoretical and practical heritage of literature scholars-narratologists. During the course fundamental knowledge is acquired, practical skills of analysis and interpretation of literary works in terms of the contemporary narrative theory are gained. The content of the course is based on the comparative principle. The course is aimed at methodological expansion of the classical paradigm, which includes the narrative theory of speech acts, readers’ feedback, psychoanalytical and deconstruction approaches. The focus is paid to trans-genre research, narrative aspects of autobiographies, documentaries, historiography, "unnatural" narratives, the development of skills to interpret antimimetic texts.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities: oral answer, supplementary answer, participation in discussions at lectures and seminars, quizzes, writing an analytical essay. Teaching methods: lecture, seminar, independent work.
Assessment methods and criteria
The course includes lectures, seminars, quizzes, independent work and writing a creative essay (presentation). Formative assessment methods: evaluation of performances at seminars, oral check-up on topics aimed at independent study. The end-of-term grades constitute the number of points earned by students while mastering the material during the entire course. The final assessment is conducted in the form of a test, the score is generated as the sum of all points earned during the semester. Seminars (full answer, participation in discussions, supplementary answers, quizzes): 3-5 points; writing an analytical essay (accepted on account of independent, heuristic and creative interpretation of the issue, proper compliance with technical requirements for student analytical works and conformity with academic integrity: 6/10 points.
