Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Knowledge of the main stages and characteristics of the socio-political process.
2. Skills of collecting and interpreting information on events and phenomena of politics, socio-political processes and events.
3. Basic skills of research and dealing with information; critical attitude towards and forecasting political, economic, socio-cultural events and phenomena.
4. Skills of group work and a public discussion.
5. Successful mastering of the course "Philosophy".
Course content
The purpose of the course is to form knowledge of features of the modern Ukrainian society, politics and government in a comparative context, of the specifics of sociological and political science knowledge on the problems and trends of society, politics and government. The subject of study includes main elements of social structure, social institutions, trends in social structure in modern Ukrainian society, features of the latest social phenomena inherent in modern societies caused by modernization and globalization, the functioning and development of modern society, politics and power, human interaction with social and political institutions, special characteristics of modern Ukrainian society in a comparative context.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Forms of study consist of lectures, seminars, consultations and students’ self-study.
Teaching methods include answers at the seminars, analytical task on the topic given by the lecturer, report, extra answer / participation in the discussion, self-study work (essay, analytical task, presentation of the project), test papers.
Assessment methods and criteria
Final score for the course constitutes a total of points for all forms of control and does not need any additional forms of evaluation.
Forms of the current control include the sum of marks for answers at the seminars (min 18 / max 30 points), analytical task on the topic given by the lecturer (min 9 / max 15 points), report (min 9 / max 15 points), extra answer / participation in the discussion (min 6 / max 10 points), self-study work (essay, analytical task, presentation of the project) (min 6 / max 10 points), test papers (min 12 / max 20 points).
Students who did not manage to score 60 points during the term have to work for the classes and topics they missed.
