Prerequisites and co-requisites
A ‘pass’ in ‘General English’ and ‘Theoretical course of English (parts 1-5)’. Skills to select and analyze linguistic units and apply linguistic terminology. Ability to discuss linguistic problems in English.
Course content
The aim of the course is to teach students a stylistic approach to the use of linguistic units, to deepen their knowledge of practical and theoretical English language courses and to introduce them to the stylistic analysis of texts. The course is aimed at systematizing knowledge about language variability.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The teaching methods are lectures, practical classes and students’ individual work. The course is delivered with the help of such activities as oral reports, written tests and student’s projects.
Assessment methods and criteria
The course ends with an exam. Students’ performance during the term is the sum of the points accumulated for their work in classroom and individual work. Formative assessment: oral report – 1-5 points; the minimum number of points for the semester is 15, the maximum – 20; student’s project – 1-5 points; the minimum number of points for the semester is 6, the maximum – 10; test – 1-10 points; the minimum number of points per semester is 15, the maximum is 30. The minimum score for the term is 36 points, while the maximum score equals 60. The minimum score for the exam is 24 and the maximum score is 40. Assessment scale: Excellent 90-100 Good 75-89 Satisfactory 60-74 Fail 0-59
