Prerequisites and co-requisites
The program is designed for students who studied French during their undergraduate studies and have an appropriate level of preparation. The student must know the methods, basic concepts, units and terminology of grammar and lexicology; the structure and regularities of the grammatical subsystem of the French language and to possess the practical skills of French-language normative speech. be able to: navigate modern linguistic theories and work with scientific literature on grammar, lexicology and general linguistics; analyze actual language material and use modern models of grammatical, lexical and stylistic analysis.
Course content
The goal of the discipline is the formation and acquisition of knowledge by students in the field of the theory of the sound structure of the French language, the history of the French language and its connection with other linguistic disciplines (theoretical grammar, theoretical phonetics, lexicology and stylistics); stylistic theory (study of the expressive possibilities of language units, their expressive and emotional meanings, as well as meanings indicating the belonging of linguistic phenomena to one or another functional style). Attention is paid to lexical, grammatical and stylistic analysis of the text. Education is conducted in the form of lectures and independent work of students. The discipline ends with an assessment at the end of the semester.

Educational activities during the semester: participation in discussions at lectures, oral answers, additions; exercises for independent study blitz survey; tests; presentation.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment: the maximum number of points during the semester is 80 points, exercises performed in the process of independent work: LO 1.1–1.5, 2.1–2.3, 3.1, 4.1-4.2 – 20 points blitz survey of LO 1.1–1.5, 2.5, 3.1 – 20 points LO tests 1.1–1.5, 2.1–2.3, 3.1, 4.1-4.2 – 20 points oral answer: LO 1.1–1.5, 2.2–2.3, 3.1 – 10 points (estimated depending on the completeness of disclosure); presentation: LO 2.2–2.5, 4.1–4.2 – 10 points final evaluation in the form of credit: the maximum number of points on the test is 20 points, LO 1.1–4.2 are evaluated the assessment consists of three written tasks: 2 theoretical questions and a linguistic analysis of the text; conditions for admission to credit: Students who scored a total of less points than the critical calculation minimum - 20 points are not allowed to pass the test.
