Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Communicate freely on professional issues with experts and non- experts in Ukrainian, English and in two Western European languages, in oral and in written form, use these languages to organize effective cross-cultural communication. PLO 10. Know the rules of standard language and be able to apply them in practice. PLO 11. Know te principles, technologies and techniques of oral and written texts of different genres and styles creation in Ukrainian, English and two other Western European languages. PLO 14. Use English and two other Western European languages in oral and written form, in different genre-style varieties and registers of communication (formal, informal, neutral), for solving communicative tasks in everyday, public, educational, professional and academic spheres of life.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Prerequisites and additional requirements: successful mastery of practical courses of the French language taught during previous four terms of study (mastery of articulation and modern French pronunciation, rhythmic-intonation design of utterances accordance to phonetic standards; reading and understanding of authentic texts, perception of native speakers’ monologue and dialogic speech; the ability to conduct a conversation on everyday topics and issues concerning regional studies, to participate in a discussion; mastery of the oral sequential interpretation skills; the ability to logically and consistently express one's thoughts in oral and written form).
Course content
The purpose of the course is to train translators who possess the skills of professional sequential interpreting. The study of this discipline involves the formation students’ professional translation and professionally-oriented intercultural communicative competences, the basis of which are the Ukrainian and foreign language (French as a second foreign language) communicative competences formed during the previous years of study

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Written analysis of texts of various genres and styles, oral and written translation, theoretical aspects of translation, practical classes.
Assessment methods and criteria
Term assessment: • translation theory: LO 1.1-1.2 – 1-5 points. • written text analysis: LO 2.1–2.4 – 1–5 points. • oral and written translation: LO 2.5–2.6. - 1-5 points • answers at practical classes: LO 1.1–2.6 – 1–5 points. • mid-term control – module test: LO 1.1–2.10 – 1–5 points depending on mistakes. The maximum number of points scored for the term is 60. The final assessment is “fail-pass”. The final test / translation is performed by an individual student or a group of students. The maximum score is 40 points.
