Prerequisites and co-requisites
2.1. Before starting this course, students should know the basic concepts of philosophy, ethics, aesthetics and cultural studies. Possess a philosophical categorical apparatus; have an idea of the main facts from the history of Christianity; to have an idea of the main features of dogmatics and the cult of Christianity, its historical evolution. 2.2. Be able to collect and interpret information about the phenomena of religion, religious processes and events; apply basic terms and categories from religious studies in the analysis of worldview problems and socio-cultural phenomena and processes; operate with objective knowledge of history and the history of religion
Course content
The discipline "Oriental Christianity in the modern world" introduces students to the history of the unique institutions of the Christian East, related to Oriental Christianity and represented by such institutions as the Assyrian Church of the East, the Syrian Orthodox Church, the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church of India, the Armenian Apostolic Church, the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria, Ethiopian Orthodox Church Tevahedo and Eritrean Orthodox Church Tevahedo. The history, current state and problems of identification of these Ancient Eastern Churches are considered, their religious potential and reconstruction of the processes of institutionalization are analyzed, the uniqueness and originality of the phenomenon of the Christian East is demonstrated.

Assessment methods and criteria
The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student in the process of mastering the material from all (two) parts of the academic discipline. The overall semester grade consists of points obtained for 1) classroom work (oral presentations, additions and participation in discussions at seminars), 2) two independent papers (comparative analysis), 3) control work, taking into account the coefficient of 0.6. All types of work in the semester have as a result: - in the maximum dimension 100 points x 0.6 = 60 points - at least 60 points x 0.6 = 36 points Examination evaluation takes place in written form. The ticket consists of 2 questions, each of which is evaluated on a scale of 20 points, which gives a total of 40 points for the exam.
