            PRL 1. To assess the individual level of educational, academic and professional activity,
to draw up and encorporate the effective strategy of personal and professional
development. 
PRL 6. To apply the knowledge of expressive, emotional, logical means of
language and speech technique, to achieve the planned pragmatic result and organize a
successful communication. 
PRL 8. To evaluate historical achievements and the latest
achievements of literary studies. 
PRL 10. To collect and systematize linguistic, literary
and folklore facts, to interpret and translate the texts of different styles and genres

            Prerequisites and co-requisites
        
        
            To know professionally ancient Greek and Latin languages; general statements of
the theory of translation, methods and techniques of translation; to have basic skills of
micro- and macro-translation, to be able to give a proper translation from Latin and
ancient Greek languages into Ukrainian.
Interdisciplinary connections: successful mastering of the disciplines Ancient
Greek hermeneutics, Latin hermeneutics, Methods of translation of ancient texts.
        
    
            Course content
        
        
            Objectives of the discipline – to master the theory of translation studies, develop
professional skills in choosing a translation strategy according to the genre and style of
the original text, to be be aable to work independently, to deepen the knowledge of
ancient Greek and Latin languages.
Practice of translation is a complex training for preparing specialists of Masters
degree in Classical Studies and Western European Language. The practice provides
students with professional translation skills to work with ancient Greek and Latin
resources, based on modern knowledge of grammar, semantics and pragmatics of
classical languages; skills of hermeneutics of ancient texts, theoretical base of translation
methods. During the practice, students carry out their own written translation with a
translators commentary. The form of practice is full-time and apart from studies. The
location of practice is determined annually according to the current agreements with
higher education institutions.

            Planned learning activities and teaching methods
        
        
            Orientation conference; excursion, tutorials with the head of practice and
supervisor; additional professional literature; independent work;
        
    
            Assessment methods and criteria
        
        
            The control of knowledge is carried out according to the ECTS system, which
provides a two-level assessment of the material which was studied, in particular the
assessment of theoretical training — learning results (knowledge 1.1 - 1.3), which is 30%
of the total scores, and the assessment of practical training — learning results (skills 2.1-
2.4); (communication 3.1-3.2); (autonomy and responsibility 4.1-4.4), which is 70% of
the total scores.
The discipline ends with a graded credit test. The total number of points for the
discipline (maximum 100 points) is determined by summing up the results of activities
during the practice. Students who scored more than 60 points get "passed". Students who
did not score 60 points, get "failed". They should retake the debts in practice and get the
required number of points.
