Course content
The aim of the course is to form an understanding of the peculiarities of the linguistic organization of media texts, the principles of selection and functioning of linguistic elements in mass media discourse.
The course examines the peculiarities of media texts - lexical, phraseological, syntactic, stylistic, namely: the vocabulary of modern mass media; the language of newspapers and magazines; linguistic features of newspaper and magazine headlines; reportage as a phenomenon of visualized media text; patterns of formation of globalized media discourse; precedent texts in the language of mass media; genre, structural, discursive texts and various media platforms.
An important methodological guideline in the course is to develop the ability to carry out rhetorical and linguistic analysis of media texts of different genres, to determine the linguistic means by which pragmatic influence on the audience is exerted.
