Learning outcomes
РLO 8. To select and apply modern educational technologies and methods for the formation of subject competencies of students and to self-analyze the effectiveness of lessons.
PLO 13. To know and understand the modern philological and didactic principles of teaching and learning English, language norms, the socio-cultural situation of language development, the peculiarities of using language units in a particular context, the language discourse of fiction and modernity.
PLO 21. To use the humanistic potential of the English language in the national and world context to form the spiritual world of the younger generation of Ukrainian citizens.
РLO 22. To know, understand and demonstrate the ability to implement the theoretical and methodological principles of teaching English in basic secondary school.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
For successful study of the discipline, students must be proficient in the Ukrainian language, well versed in the structure of the English language, proficient in the genres of oral and written communication; students must also have basic knowledge of pedagogy, in particular, didactics, and know the main aspects of age psychology.

Course content
"Methods of Teaching English" is an integral part of the training of specialists in the educational qualification level "Bachelor", field of knowledge 01. Education, specialization 014. "Secondary Education (Turkish Language and Literature)" prior to mastering the specialty of a foreign language teacher in the bachelor's degree, should ensure the formation of methodological competence.
In the system of teacher training, the problem of forming the professional and methodological competence of a secondary school foreign language teacher is focused, in particular, in the course "Methods of Teaching English", which reveals theoretical, practical, organizational aspects of teaching English, innovative methodological technologies, represents a modern view of the formation of English methodological competence and teaching of speech activities, the formation of students' socio-cultural competence, and the peculiarities of teaching in secondary school.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures; seminars; independent work.
Assessment methods and criteria
The semester grade is based on the points earned by the student in the process of mastering the material on all course topics, completing practical assignments, and writing an ICR. A student can score a maximum of 60 points for work during the semester.
Assessment of semester work:
1. Performing practical tasks: 30 - 50 points.
2. Module control work: 6 - 10 points.
3. Exam: 24 - 40 points.
The semester final grade is formed by the points obtained by the student during the semester and the points obtained at the exam, the maximum distribution is carried out according to the following algorithm: 60 points (60%) - semester control and 40 points (40%) - exam).
