Learning outcomes
PLO 8. Know and understand the system of the Ancient Greek, Latin and a foreign language, the general properties of literature as the art of word, the history of the Ancient Greek and Latin languages, and literature, be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 12. Analyze language units, determine their interaction, and characterize linguistic phenomena and the underlying processes. PLO 15. Perform linguistic, literary and specific philological analysis of texts of different styles and genres in Ancient Greek and Latin. PLO 21. Possess the skills to translate texts of different styles and genres in Ancient Greek and Latin. PLO 22. Realize the role and place of classical languages and literatures in the context of the European linguistic and cultural space, in the strategies of the development of the contemporary academic paradigm and modern civilization.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) successful mastering of the academic disciplines "Latin language", "History of Ancient Rome", "Introduction to Classical Philology", "Vernacular Latin and Romance Languages", "Ancient Mythology and Modernity", "Culture of Ancient Greece and Rome (in Ancient Greek and Latin texts)", "Ancient epigraphy and paleography in the linguistic and semiotic aspect" and "History of classical philology"; 2) knowledge of the theoretical and practical foundations of the professional discipline, knowledge of general linguistic concepts, general information about the historical and cultural context of antiquity, the basic volume of Ancient Greek mythology, the basics of grammar and syntax of the Latin language; 3) possession of basic skills of analysis and interpretation of texts, taking into account the peculiarities of time and era.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to bring the course of the Latin language closer to the today’s realities, to realize its place and role in the modern world, to form a complete set of knowledge of the Latin language of different periods, to increase the level of general erudition and linguistic and cultural competence through the establishment of connections between Latin and European civilization The course consists of two substantive parts, which cover the following main issues: the subject and tasks of the "Live Latin" course; mundus Latinus – imperium sine fine: the Latin world of Antiquity, the Middle Ages, and Modern Times; Latinitas perennis; lexical-grammatical system of the living Latin language; Lingua Latina in usu quotidiano: vocabulum, bene precandi formulae, texti; opera et carmina neolatina; Latin language in scientific discourse; Latin in the modern world.

Assessment methods and criteria
Grading is carried out according to the ECTS system: the assessment of theoretical training - learning outcomes (‘knowledge’ 1.1 - 1.9), which makes up 50% of the total assessment, and the assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (‘skills’ 2.1-2.3); (‘communication’ 3.1-3.3); (‘autonomy and responsibility’ 4.1-4.4), which is 50% of the total grade. Assessment of semester work: 1. Oral answer: 1.1-9; 2.1-3; 3.1-3; 4.1, 4.4 – 18/30 points. 2. Report with presentation: 1.1-9; 2.1-3; 3.1-2; 4.1-3 – 10/20 points (presentation preparation – 3/5 and its defense – 2/5). 3. Control works: 1.1-9; 4.3 – 10/15 points 4. Creative project: 2.1-3; 3.1; 4.1-4 – 12/20 points. Final assessment in the form of credit.
