Learning outcomes
PLO 8. Know and understand the system of the Ancient Greek, Latin and a foreign language, the general properties of literature as the art of word, the history of the Ancient Greek and Latin languages, and literature, be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques of oral and written texts of different genres and styles creation in Ukrainian, classical and a foreign language. PLO 13. Analyze and interpret works of the Ancient literature, determine their peculiarities and place in the literary process. PLO 15. Perform linguistic, literary and specific philological analysis of texts of different styles and genres in Ancient Greek and Latin. PLO 22. Realize the role and place of classical languages and literatures in the context of the European linguistic and cultural space, in the strategies of the development of the contemporary academic paradigm and modern civilization.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
To master successfully the academic disciplines "Introduction to Literary Studies", "Introduction to Classical Philology" and "Ancient Greek Language (first semester)"; to know general information about the historical and cultural context of antiquity, the basics of literary terminology, the basic set of Ancient Greek myths, the basics of the grammar of the Ancient Greek language; to have the basic skills and abilities to track the evolution of literary genres, to analyze and interpret literary works.
Course content
The goal of the discipline is to familiarize students with the phenomenon of Ancient Greek literature, its formation and history, theoretical foundations, terminological apparatus, methods of research, analysis and interpretation of works of Ancient Greek literature of the archaic and classical era with the involvement of the original texts. Abstract of the academic discipline. The discipline belongs to the list of mandatory educational components of the OPP "Classical Philology and the English Language". Its subject is the study of the regularities of the literary process of Ancient Greece of the archaic and classical periods, the genesis and evolution of genres (epic, lyric and drama), genres and styles of Ancient Greek literature, the connection between myth and literature, the influence of the classical literary tradition on the development of the World literature. The discipline gives an idea of the problems, poetics and artistic style of works of Ancient Greek literature of the archaic and classical era; forms the skills of literary analysis and interpretation of ancient works with the involvement of original texts.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, independent work, practical classes. Forms of learning: oral response, additions, participation in the discussion, creative tasks (essay, reader's review), control work with open answers, final control work in the form of tests.
Assessment methods and criteria
The semester number of points is formed by the points obtained by the student in the process of learning the material from the entire educational course. The overall grade for the semester consists of points received for classroom work (oral answers, additions and participation in discussions at lectures and practical classes, test work with open answers), independent creative works (essay, reader's review) and final test work. All types of work for the semester have a total of: 100 points in the maximum dimension, 60 points in the minimum dimension. Final control work in the form of tests: 1.1-1.5; 2.3, 2.4; 4.1-4.5 – 12/20 points. Final assessment: credit.
