Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the course requires basic knowledge of general linguistic terminology and terminological system; knowledge of the basics of modern English grammar; reading, writing, listening and speaking skills at school level
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is the formation of students' English-language communicative competence as a set of knowledge, skills and abilities that provide effective intercultural communication in oral and written forms; the study of patterns and trends of the origin, functioning and development of the English language.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Teaching methods: practical classes, independent work. Forms of study: oral answer, presentation, audition, writing essays, letters, home reading, individual work, final test.
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out by the ECTS system, which provides a two-level assessment of the mastered material, including assessment of theoretical training - learning outcomes (knowledge 1.1), which makes 40% of the total assessment, and assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills 2.1 - 2.2); (communication 3.1); (autonomy and responsibility 4.1), which makes 60% of the total score. The final form of assessment in the 1st term is the intermediate knowledge control (IKC).
