Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To demonstrate an adequate level of mastery of national and foreign languages to perform written and spoken communication, namely in the situations of professional and academic communication; to present the results of their studies in these national and foreign languages. PLO 6. To use knowledge on expressive, emotive, logical language means and speech techniques in order to achieve an intended pragmatic result and organize successful communication. PLO 13. To explain the essence of both specific linguistic issues and one’s point of view and its justification to experts and laypeople in an accessible and argumentative manner, particularly to individuals who are studying. PLO 14. To create, analyze, and edit texts of various genres and styles. PLO 18. To present the results of one’s research to the academic community in academic publications or presentations at conferences, round tables, seminars, etc.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The course "Academic Swedish" requires knowledge of the Swedish language at a level not lower than B2 in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, as well as a general understanding of the specifics of communication in an academic environment, acquired during undergraduate studies.
Course content
The course "Academic Swedish" includes practical classes. In practical classes, students get acquainted with the scientific prose of the Swedish language - its rhetoric, stylistics, formal features, functioning, etc. Typical language features of the academic Swedish language in literature and linguistics are considered. The traditions of academic writing in various branches of linguistics are considered and analyzed. The basis for practical tasks is the topic of each student's master's thesis. Students get the opportunity to discuss and present the results of their own research in writing. In addition, during the study of the academic discipline, students are offered a general overview of the higher education system in Sweden.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities: practical classes, independent work. Teaching methods: Communicative method, heuristic method, educational discussion, conversation, role-playing games, performance of written exercises, analysis of texts, audio and video recordings.
Assessment methods and criteria
Current assessment: oral survey, report, participation in discussion, test, written analytical tasks. The final assessment is an exam. Evaluation criteria for each form of control are given in the course program.
