PLO7 To analyse, compare and classify various trends and schools in Linguistics.PLO9 To describe theoretical foundations (concepts, categories, principles, basic notions, etc.) and applied aspects of Linguistics, Germanic Philology, Literary Studies, Methods of Teaching the English Language and Literature, Communication Theory.PLO13 To explain the essence of philological issues, to express personal point of view concerning them and to substantiate it both to specialists and general public, students in particular, in a comprehensible and reasoned form.PLO15 To choose the best research approaches and methods for analysis of specific language, speech or literary material.PLO16 To use specialised conceptual knowledge within Linguistics, Germanic Philology, Literary Studies, Methods of Teaching the English Language and Literature, Communication Theory to solve complex problems, which requires updating and integration of knowledge...

Full-time form

English B2-C1, knowledge of the basic linguistic terms and categories, principles of linguistic analysis, semantics and vocabulary, English word-formation, functioning of English in modern communication; ability to use linguistic terms, to collect, analyse and interpret linguistically language and communication facts; ability to discuss linguistic issues.

The course spans a wide range of issues of Theory of English, its evolution, up to its modern status of a global language, language of cross-cultural communication, the most promising and fruitful trends of the English language studies such as social linguistics, eco-linguistics, experimental phonetics, corpus linguistics, linguistic landscape, multimodality, discourse analysis. The students are offered the assignments to implement and develop creativity, analytical approach, multimodal and multisemiotic skills, linguistic analysis, interpretation of language data.
