Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To demonstrate an adequate level of mastery of national and foreign languages to perform written and spoken communication, namely in the situations of professional and academic communication; to present the results of their studies in these national and foreign languages. PLO 10. To collect and systematize facts of language and literature, to interpret and translate texts of various styles and genres (depending on the chosen specialization). PLO 11. To carry out a scientific analysis of language, speech and literary material, interpret and structure it taking into account appropriate methodological principles, formulate generalizations based on independently processed data. PLO 14. To create, analyze, and edit texts of various genres and styles.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
To possess a lexical and grammatical proficiency in German and Ukrainian languages within the scope of topics specified in the curriculum for the 1st-4th year of undergraduate studies and the 1st year of master's studies in the educational program "Specialized Translation from German and English; Intercultural Management". To have a grasp of the basic concepts of the categorical-conceptual apparatus of translation studies. To have a general understanding of the peculiarities of intercultural professional communication and to have developed skills in translating scientific and technical texts. To have a refined speaking proficiency, general erudition, and solid knowledge of the grammatical and stylistic norms of both the source and target languages.
Course content
The aim of the course is to further develop students' language skills (lexical and grammatical proficiency) as well as their professional competencies in mediation and research in the field of specialized translation from German. It aims to enhance their skills in written translation of scientific and technical texts in the fields of exact and natural sciences, with a focus on translation from German to Ukrainian. The course also covers the study of composition features, text categories of cohesion and coherence from a translation perspective, and the algorithms of pre-translation analysis in different translation concepts. It is a practical discipline that familiarizes students with the peculiarities of intercultural professional communication, provides them with techniques for written translation in the field of exact and natural sciences, further develops their skills in pre-translation analysis, and equips them with practical skills in glossary development. The course also aims to expand terminology systems in various subject areas.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The forms of ongoing assessment include: evaluating individual assignments (including work with lecture materials, pre-translation analysis, short presentations of translations, work with parallel texts); assessing the skills demonstrated by students during practical sessions.
Assessment methods and criteria
The main ongoing assessment tasks include: Creating glossaries - maximum 12/20 points. Frontal questioning using the comparative-translation analysis algorithm - maximum 12/20 points. Translation of a specialized text in the A-B direction - maximum 24/40 points. The form of final assessment is a credit test with one (1) content module - maximum 12/20 points. Overall evaluation: The maximum score for the semester is 80 points. The final assessment is a credit (maximum score - 20 points).
