            PLO 4. To assess and analyze critically vital social, individual and professional issues and offer tactics for their resolution, in difficult and unpredictable conditions, which require the application of new approaches and forecasting.
PLO 5. To find optimal ways for effective interaction in the professional community and with representatives of other professional groups at various levels. 
PLO 6. To use knowledge on expressive, emotive, logical language means and speech techniques in order to achieve an intended pragmatic result and organize successful communication.

            Proficiency in German at level C1 and knowledge of the basics of linguistics and translation studies.
        
    
            Course content
        
        
            The proposed course is an integral part of the professional training for translators and intercultural mediators. The lecture sessions involve an in-depth exploration of contemporary theories of intercultural communication, the specificities of a translator's work in the international translation services market, particularly in the social role of an intercultural manager. The practical sessions focus on the development and training of intercultural competence and the formation of an understanding of the translator's role as an intercultural mediator. Discussions revolve around the works of domestic and foreign theorists of intercultural communication, where students analyze intercultural asymmetry (primarily between Ukraine and German-speaking countries) in various discourses such as history, culture, religion, social relations, mentality, traditions, and more. Students gain a deeper understanding of the specificities of communication in each German-speaking country and explore ways in which translators can overcome intercultural asymmetry in different communicative situations.

            Planned learning activities and teaching methods
        
        
            The course includes lectures, practical sessions, independent work, project assignments, presentations, translation tasks, oral examinations, and a final assignment.
        
    
            Assessment methods and criteria
        
        
            Semester evaluation:
Oral examinations during classes: oral responses, contributions, active participation in practical sessions, preparation of homework - maximum 30 points
Own translation - 20 points
Two presentations - 15 points each, total of 30 points
Maximum score for current assessment - 80 points;
Minimum score for current assessment - 48 points;
Final evaluation is conducted in the form of a credit (maximum 20 points); all program learning outcomes are evaluated comprehensively: during the semester and during the credit; the credit is conducted in the form of a written work with open-ended responses to theoretical and practical questions.
